life in the fast lane . . .

or what inevitably happens when you throw two "onlys" in a house and shake them up.  add to the mix a little high functioning autism, among other things, and let the games begin.  actually things have been askew for quite a while now but suddenly they have sunk lower than pond scum.

dinner was particularly interesting.  i sit across from them.  after 30 minutes of my entertaining conversational repertoire, i got four grunts, one ahem, and thirty-three pained looks.  not one word of conversation between the two.  i admit, after assigning drying and washing chores, i headed back up to my nest where the herd enjoys my company.  and i can hide out in peace.

i knew this would happen and truly, i am surprised it hadn't come to a head much earlier.  they are both frustrated being unable to communicate in the manner in which they are accustomed. think Sheldon Cooper conversing with a less sexually obsessed Penny.  apples and oranges.  rainbows and noir.

i'm not giving up.  i'm calling in the reserves.  professional help always accepted.  bottom line, they deserve happiness and one way or the other this blue bird of happiness is going make this work even if i have to strange them both. so there.
